ABOUT CCIJ
​
The California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice (CCIJ) utilizes coordination, advocacy, and legal services to fight for the liberation of immigrants in detention in California. We seek to empower immigrants in detention and their communities through technical assistance, education, and participatory defense strategies, while also advancing advocacy, policy and litigation initiatives consistent with the goals of abolition and freedom for immigrants in detention. We are a statewide organization headquartered in Oakland, CA, and our 13 staff members are located throughout the state.

THE POSITION
CCIJ is hiring an Administrative Coordinator to support our dynamic team. The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating CCIJ’s administrative operations. This position includes coordinating organizational administration and assisting in the reporting and solicitation of grants. The Administrative Coordinator will also provide general administrative support to the CCIJ team where capacity permits. We conduct all our work through an abolitionist framework and although the Administrative Coordinator’s primary responsibilities and work functions are within organizational operations, they will also have the opportunity to collaborate with CCIJ’s other advocacy campaigns

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative and Operations (60%)
-
Oversee general office duties such as maintaining office supplies, managing facility and vendor relationships, processing incoming mail, answering and directing office calls, and coordinating the office’s IT maintenance and security needs.

Assist in development and updating of office protocols and train others on CCIJ’s organizational operations, as needed.

Provide administrative support to program staff as needed; and
-
Collaborate with CCIJ internal programs and outside partners, as needed.

Development (40%)
-
Create and maintain processes to track important grant deadlines;
-
Support the reporting of grant deliverables and data reports for CCIJ; and
-
Support planning and managing CCIJ annual fundraising events.

REQUIREMENTS
​

At least 1 year of experience in administrative or operations management;
-
Detail-oriented, responsible, and organized;
-
Accuracy and attention to detail an absolute must;
-
Ability to prioritize and multitask;
-
Strong communication skills (verbal and written);
-
Proficient in all MS Office and Adobe Applications, including Excel and Acrobat;
-
Familiar with Google Workspace/G-Suite;
-
Work at least 50% of the time out of our Oakland office (full-time remote work is not a possibility for this position); and
-
Willingness to travel to immigrant detention centers in California.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
​
-
3+ years of experience in administrative or organizational operations, development experience is a plus;
-
Fluent in Spanish (i.e. able to speak to clients in Spanish without an interpreter and able translate written materials between English and Spanish); and
-
Experience (personal and/or professional) with populations CCIJ serves, including people in detention, immigrant communities, and individuals who have been impacted by the criminal legal system.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
​
CCIJ’s office is located in Oakland, CA. Hybrid work is possible, but candidates must reside in California and this position requires at least 50% of work to be done from CCIJ’s office. CCIJ hosts regular in-person events for the whole team throughout the year to collaborate on projects and to celebrate our collective wins

COMPENSATION
​​
The salary range is $68,000 – $73,000. Benefits include medical, dental, Flex Spending/Dependent Care Accounts, 403(b) retirement plan, wellness stipend, professional development fund, vacation leave (accrued at 3 weeks per year, plus PTO), and holiday closures (10+ days), which includes additional office closure around the December holidays. CCIJ transitioned to a 4-day work week, our office is closed on Fridays
