CCIJ uses legal and advocacy initiatives, data and reporting, public health and immigrant detention and campaigns for liberation to strengthen and guide both grassroots and statewide efforts to dismantle detention and liberate individuals. We believe that the only way to liberate our communities is to abolish immigration detention and the carceral state once and for all.
Legal & Advocacy
We envision a world of true liberation and empowerment. Legal strategies are not enough to attain this vision. Systemic change can only happen when legal strategies and advocacy go hand in hand.
Data & Reporting
We collect and analyze data related to ICE enforcement behaviors and detention center conditions, among others, for advocacy and educational purposes. Data helps us tell a story of what is actually happening to our communities.
