OUR WORK

Our immigration system is rooted in racism and oppression, particularly the practice of targeting and detaining Black and Latinx immigrants. To fight against this unjust system, we focus on the following main areas of work:

  • legal and advocacy initiatives

  • data and reporting

  • public health and immigrant detention

  • campaigns for liberation

CCIJ uses these areas of work to strengthen and guide both grassroots and statewide efforts to dismantle detention and liberate individuals. We believe that the only way to liberate our communities is to abolish immigration detention and the carceral state once and for all.

If the person was detained by ICE within the last 24 hours, contact your local rapid response hotline. Click below for more information.

People detained at the following facilities may reach us on a free, confidential line via the speed dial 7540#: Mesa Verde Detention Facility in Bakersfield, CA; Golden State Annex in McFarland, CA; or Yuba County Jail in Marysville, CA.
