Detained immigrants report guards entered their cell blocks wearing riot gear and arresting several protesters 

Over 100 immigrants detained at the California City ICE Detention Center launched a collective action tonight to demand an end to the severe abuse and neglect they have faced since being transferred to the facility.

We are friends, family members, colleagues, faith leaders, advocates and supporters of Guillermo Medina Reyes, a beloved Bay Area tattoo artist, immigrant rights advocate and community organizer who has been rebuilding his life after incarceration and detention. We reiterate our commitment to keeping Guillermo and all people free, and to building a world that prioritizes healing, not punishment.

U.S. District Judge Rita Lin’s order means that Guillermo will be provided a bond hearing before an immigration judge to determine whether or not he will remain free, and confirming that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cannot unilaterally decide to re-detain someone in Guillermo’s position who was released on bond by an immigration judge.

Yesterday, Tuesday, July 15, around one hundred people rallied outside the U.S. Federal District Court in support of beloved local tattoo artist, community organizer, and immigrant rights leader Guillermo Reyes, who faces the possibility of being re-detained by ICE.
